to stress, fear, and problems much more easily than it absorbs joy
or safety.
• When this brain is running the show, we get stuck in stress,
burnout, hypervigilance, and reactivity.

• This is the newer brain, especially the neocortex.
• It allows you to reflect, imagine, learn, and consciously
choose what to focus on.
• It’s the part that can install positive experiences into long-term
