Martin Heidegger, part 1 "The Question Concerning Technology", p. 305 Heidegger's ideas
aren't easy. The following questions are based on the reading, but will ask you to reflect beyond
the reading: Try to explain what Heidegger means when he says that the essence of technology
is not technological. Heidegger believes that technology is not merely a means or instrument,
but a way of revealing a truth. What could he mean by this? Can you conceive of technology as
anything other than a mere tool used for utility?

1.Heidegger means when he says the essence technology is technological has deep pessimistic
depth let us understand that in following points:
2.Heidger believes understands technology as particular manner of approaching reality ,
dominating and controlling one in which reality can appear as raw material that needs to to be
manipulated. Rather being a tool guided by human intentions for good or ill technology has
become a malign force of culture and nature.Yes it is now becoming a part of our culture not just
a tool.
