This document provides instructions for a student art project to create a plaster relief mask representing their personal identity. Students will gather 10-15 reference images from the internet to inform their mask design. They will partner to make plaster casts of each other's faces. Students will then paint symbols reflecting their culture, interests, and future hopes on the masks. The project aims to teach students about how masks have represented identity and been used across cultures through history. It includes rubrics for evaluating the plastering, design, use of references, and communication of identity in the finished masks.
