Symantec is acquiring MessageLabs, the global leader in online messaging and web security services, for $695 million. MessageLabs provides services to over 19,000 clients in over 86 countries and will complement Symantec's existing security software. The acquisition will allow Symantec to offer customers increased flexibility to manage security using online, on-premise, or hybrid solutions. MessageLabs CEO Adrian Chamberlain will lead the new Software-as-a-Service group within Symantec.
