- #31: Some of our communications still address Subpostmasters in a teacher/pupil tone. Some of the terminology we use (left hand side) is extremely dictatorial and tars everyone with the same brush - many of the people that read these messages will be getting it right first time. For example, if there are 300 errors ‘made by branches issuing gift vouchers’ we should be speaking to the agents in those branches - do we really need to tell a network of 14000 that they’re doing it wrong? We need to develop communications which speak to Agents as equal partners. The example on the right hand side – taken from a joint letter from George Thompson and Alan Cook - shows how we can offer support to agents . . . . . In our contact with agents, whether it’s face to face, in our correspondence or through other means, we need to show that we understand their business, relate to their concerns and be willing to work with them in partnership.
