Sanitarywear surfaces are ideal places for stain and odor causing bacterial growth. And
left unprotected, bacteria can double every 20 minutes. Microban antimicrobial product
protection can be permanently integrated into the surface of the sanitaryware, so it lasts
the lifetime of the product, keeping your toilets and sinks cleaner and fresher for longer.
Break-thru Technology
Microban silver technology is the active ingredient used in ceramics and sanitary ware
applications. This technology inhibits the growth of microbes by disrubting multiple functions
required for bacterial maintenance and reproduction. Our unique antimicrobial technology
works 24/7 and does not require light activation. Proprietary formulation and application
techniques ensure that Microban’s antimicrobial technology is permanently locked into the
surface of the glaze where needed. The product is engineered to work continuously against
a wide range of microbes. Its mode of action makes it perfect for applications where moist,
nutritive environments may lead to the growth of microbes.
Proven History of Safe Use
Microban silver is based on a technology with a long history of safe use in diverse
applications. Microban silver technology is registered with the US EPA and EU BPR.
Easy To Apply
Microban silver is incorporated into the glaze layer of sanitary ware and forms a permanent
part of the glaze after it is fired in a kiln at over 1000˚C.

How It Works
Microban® antimicrobial additive technology is built-in to products during the
manufacturing process and become an intrinsic part of the product inside and
at the surface. When microbes such as bacteria, mold and mildew come in to
contact with the product surface, our antimicrobial agents penetrate the cell
wall of the microbe and disrupt key cell functions so the microbe cannot grow
or reproduce.
Cleaner
In these images, taken using a confocal microscope, you can see how an
unprotected surface supports the growth and proliferation of bacteria, while on
the Microban protected surface the bacteria are unable to grow or reproduce
over time.
This information is based upon standard laboratory tests and is provided for comparative purposes to substantiate antimicrobial
activity for non-public health applications. Microban technology is not designed to protect users from disease causing microorganisms.
Microban protection inhibits the growth of microorganisms that cause stains, odors, and product degradation. Antimicrobial action
