Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Please Note
This is a an overview of the whole product and creating Subscription Lists and Email
Templates are generally a one of and not something you will have to do during each
email campaign
What is a Subscription List?
• A Subscription List could also be known as the “Type” of email you are sending
• You associate your marketing lists with these, and then people of choose to
opt out of those “Types” of Email.
• A Subscription List lets people opt out of specific types of emails you are
sending to them.
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Subscription Management
 A Subscription List filters down any unsubscribes down to the Marketing lists
 When sending an email to a Marketing List, if they have unsubscribed the recipient will not
receive the email
 Even if they are a member of the marketing list
 When you press send on an email ClickDimensions checks to see if anybody in the Marketing
List(s) has unsubscribed by going through the Subscription List
 You can see the unsubscribes against the Subscription List
 Settings >> Subscription Lists >> New.
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Subscription Designer
 Drag and Drop Lists and Components into the Page
 Here you are setting up what the user will see when they load the form
 As you can see you can add subscription lists and then the email address.
 It is crucial to add the email address because this associates the users email with
their preferences.
 And if the email is forwarded on and someone else were to fill in that information
means we can identify who they are.
 Within the HTML Component you can add content e.g. Images (logo’s) or Text
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Creating A Subscription Management Page
 Settings >> Web Content >> Create New
 Type: Subscription
 Choose domain: this means the link sent to the recipient will include your branding.
 Create new Visitor: e.g. if someone clicks on the link that is not already in CRM they are either
created as a Lead or Contact depending on your choice.
 Campaign: Associate it with an existing Campaign
 Any posted subscription or subscription preference record will be associated with that campaign
 Auto Responder
 Auto Responder Email: Once you have received a preference from them it will auto fire off an email template
to them of your choice.
 Subject: Give the auto email a subject
 This is an older version, and can be configured in the Designer itself.
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Subscription Actions
 These will happen once the user has submitted the above page
 You can add recipients to Marketing List for example
 So that they are auto added to a Marketing List
 Or use remove from Marketing List
 You could create a follow up, which will be an activity of Task or Phone call
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Subscription Action Types
 Email Notification for User or Team, someone updated their preferences and sends
to appropriate user
 Create Campaign Response, their response would then connect to the campaign
you associated with it
 Auto Responder, this will give an auto response to a user that submits the page
 You would need to have setup an email template for this
 Confirmation Text on main form ribbon, gives text and images once setup or you
can use Post Redirect if you select this they will not see your confirmation text
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Subscription Designer Page (cont.)
 Embed option on Ribbon
 This is so that when you send an Email you can embed the link to this page which will
direct users here update their preferences
 Here you can add your own Custom URL (cannot include capital letters) or Embed it as a
Link
 If you would like to embed this page on your website you can use the code in Embed as
Iframe (does not use styling of your webpage) or Embed as Widget (does use styling of
your webpage due to the JavaScript)
 Preview: In here you can click on a live version of the page to see how it looks and
works, within Embed as Link
 If you then test the page, by enter the details (your preferences and email address), if you
then go to Marketing >> Posted Subscriptions
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Creating a Marketing List
 A Marketing List is a list of people of whom you wish to send the Marketing Campaign to
 There are 2 types of Marketing Lists
1. Static: Adding people manually to it
2. Dynamic: Creating a set criteria to send the Marketing List to using Advanced Find
 This is quite straight forward and utilises MS CRM’s standard functionality.
 This can either be done directly in an Email Send or within entity
Marketing >> Marketing Lists
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Creating an Email Send
 This is the hub of any Marketing Campaign when using ClickDimensions
 Here you pick the Marketing List
 The Email template that we are going to use.
 You can edit an existing Email Template or create a new one using the various editors
available
 Block Editor
 Drag and Drop
 Custom HTML
 Freestyle
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd

 Easiest one to use
 Mobile responsive, auto resize to fit screen.
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Email Statistics
 This unit covers how ClickDimensions records information about how users interact with
the email you sent them.
 From viewing data on the Campaign you sent out to viewing globally and against an
Individual.
 After you’ve sent your email, you will be able to see statistics and events.
 You can see Sent Emails under Marketing > Email Marketing > Sent Emails for a global
view and in the Sent Email Send for the messages generated by that Email Send.
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Email Statistics (cont.)
 Every time you send an email via an Email Send record, ClickDimensions creates a
Sent Email record for each recipient who was sent an email.
 In these Sent Email records, you are able to see how many times the recipient
opened an email, how many times the recipient clicked on a link in the email, and
more.
 We also score the recipient based on how many times he/she clicked on a link in the
email.
 The default value for each click is 10, but can be changed in Score Settings.
 Email Blocks: Soft bounce and hard bounce

 The Editors work the same way as the Email Template editors.
 To Embed Landing Pages into Email Templates add in HTML Editor.
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Creating Surveys
 Settings >> Web Content >> Type: Survey >> Design
 These are used to collect information on any feedback that a customer has, and
fields for the surveys cannot be mapped to a Lead or Contact record.
 Surveys can be split across multiple pages, and can give you at the end a
customer rating.
 They can also be setup Skip Logic, so different users can choose different paths
of the Survey depending on their answers.
 Surveys can be added to your emails and web pages.
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Creating Survey Questions

 There are various types of questions inc. Checkbox, Multiple Choice and Options.
 When a question has been added to your survey you can edit by selecting Properties in
the menu bar
 Please remember to add in the Email Address field to associate the record with a
Lead/Contact, and make it required.
 Actions are performed when a form has been submitted
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Embedding the Survey
 Option below is how you can embed the form into your website, you can copy and paste
either of the options to which is most suited to you.
 Embed as Link: Copy and Paste Link into your website or blogpost to take user to live
version
 Embed as iFrame: Copy and Paste code into your website, will insert it as an iFrame. This
option does not use styling of the webpage you have placed them on
 Embed as Widget: When inserted into Webpage does use styling and takes on style of
the webpage
 Testing the form:
 Once you have created the form, it is worth clicking on the Embed as link, and then selecting the
URL shown.
 This will take you to a live version of the form, which you can test against an existing Contact
records email address.
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Viewing Contacts Posted Survey’s
 Go to Marketing >> Posted Surveys
 You will then come to the Active Posted Surveys
view, these are ordered by Created date
 Below is a screenshot of how the Posted Survey
looks, this list at the bottom displays what answers
were selected by the Individual
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Viewing Completed Survey Answers
 This shows you all the answers to all surveys taken by the users
 Go to Marketing >> Survey Answers
 You will now be in the Survey Answers view
 When you select one, you will be shown the survey taken and in the value column what
the Contact answered
Daniel Salter – Serversys Ltd
Form Captures
 A form is used to gather information about your Lead or Contact and then to map
that information to their record.
 Or the user may not already exist in CRM so this can be used to create a new contact
and place this additional information on it.
 Forms can be embedded into emails as links.
 Important: Create Email Address mapping to Email Address 1, this is so when the
recipient enters their email address on a form it is checked whether it is already in
CRM as a Lead or Contact.
 This will determine whether they are created as new Leads or Contacts
