Michael, who goes by Mikey, is a 9th grader at HRHS who was born deaf in Colorado. He wears a cochlear implant and has good speech. When he first started high school, he was scared and felt lost having to navigate new classrooms and schedules. However, he was happy to find a program for deaf and hard of hearing students, feeling less alone. In high school, Mikey has made many new friends and has improved his reading and learning, overcoming his initial reluctance to engage in schoolwork.

- 2. About me Hi my name is Michael but people call me Mikey. I'm in 9th grade and I go to HRHS. I play lacrosse for the school. I'm a DHH (Deaf and Hard of Hearing). I'm deaf and I wear a cochlear implant but I have good speech. I'm interest in technology a lot. I was born deaf in Colorado.
- 3. My high school experiences When I came to school I was a little scared. I was a little lost. I had to remember to know the class rooms are and keep track of the time so I wont get tardy.
