Housing Development Finance Corporation
Limited(HDFC) is an Indian financial conglomerate based 
in Mumbai, India. It was founded in 1977 as the first 
specialized mortgage company in India. HDFC was 
promoted by the Industrial Credit and Investment 
Corporation of India. It is a major provider of finance for 
housing in India. It also has a presence in banking, life and 
general insurance, asset management, venture capital and 
education loans.

 HDFC is a professionally managed organisation with a 
board of directors consisting of eminent persons, 
professionals who represent various fields including 
finance, taxation, construction and urban policy & 
development.

policy and control, designed to deliver increasing value

information system used by the managers to perform
their operations and functions. It helps management in
their Decision Making.
 G. B. Davis defines management information system as
“an integrated man/machine system for providing
information to support the operations, management and
decision-making functions in an organization”.

called “EMPOWER”.
 This device is connected with the HUB which
continuously makes record of their hours spent in the
bank. This help management to monitor the working
efficiency of an employee.

Challenges faced by HDFC
 Proper MIS is not able to form as it lacks standarisation
and is rapidly growing.
 Sometimes there is lack of commitment from the
management.
 There is resistance of change.
Recommendations
 Software industry needs to do more in developing quality
software.
 Proper training should be given to everyone about how
to use the software efficiently.
 Capacity within institution should be managed properly.
