 Office Hours: M 14:00-14:30, W 11:00-11:30
 Course Description: Systems
    development life cycle. Systems analysis;
    identifying problems. determining and
    analyzing information requirements.
    Systems design; output, input, file,
    database, user interface, data-entry
    procedures and software design. Systems
    development; project management, costs,
    programming, testing and documentation.
    Systems implementation and evaluation.
 Delivery Method: Instructor led lectures.

 Textbook/Reference Book:
 Systems Analysis and Design - Shelly,
      Cashman, Rosenblatt
 Systems Analysis and Design – Kendall and
      Kendall
 Grading: Normal distribution curve fitting.

 Midterm Exam: Midterm exam will be open
  book/open notes, written exam. Make-up
exam will be given only for official excuses.
 Project: Students are expected to form
groups to analyze and design a real-world
situation. A presentation and a report is
expected at the end of this exercise. Project
will be a 3-4 student group project. There
will be no make-up for the project.
 Final: Final exam will be open book/open
notes, written exam. Make-up exam will be
given only for the excuses accepted by
registration office. Students are required to
get an average grade of 50 (midterm,
project and laboratory grades up to final) in
order to enter the final exam.
 Academic Dishonesty: Cheating is
absolutely subject to a disciplinary action
  and a null grade.
 Course Content and Objectives (Shelly,
    Cashman and Rosenblatt):
 Introduction to Systems Analysis and Design
     Systems Planning
     Requirements Modeling
     Data and Process Modeling
     Transition to Systems Design
     Data Design
 PROJECT DEFINITION
 Project will be 2 semester project which will
      include steps of planning, design,
      implementation, testing and documentation.
 It will be an Internet based application.
 The database will be implemented in MIS 335
course and teams will be the same as much as
      possible.
 Possible projects: e-sales, registration, hospital,
      game, education, library, etc.
 PROJECT DEFINITION
 When the project is e-sales it may seem to be a
huge project. But every project can be sized
     while designing:
 You may assume that items enter to the store with
another program and they are already in database.
Your aim will be to sell these items to customers.
 You may assume that payment is not online.
 PROJECT PLAN
     Phase I (5.10.2012)
    * Submit your project title together with the
      names of the team members.
    * Project title and teams should be confirmed by
      MIS 335 instructor.
 Next semester…
 List all of the necessary outputs and design
      them
 List all of the necessary inputs and design the
      forms
 Give the menu hierarchy of your system
 Prepare the relational database design
 Describe installation and evaluation process
     Describe support activities
