What is Management?
▰ Management is a universal phenomenon. It
is a very popular and widely used term. All
organizations - business, political, cultural
or social are involved in management
because it is the management which helps
and directs the various efforts towards a
definite purpose.

▰ "To manage is to forecast and to plan, to
organize, to command, to co-ordinate and
to control.“ - Henri Fayol (29 July 1841,
Istanbul – 19 November 1925, Paris)

▰ Management is an art of knowing what to
do, when to do and see that it is done in
the best and cheapest way". F W Taylor (20
March 1856 - 21 March 1915)

▰ Management is a social process -concerned with developing
relationship among people
▰ Management is an integrated process -undertakes the job of bringing
together human physical and financial resources so as to achieve
organizational purpose
▰ Management is a continuous process -concerned with constantly
identifying the problem and solving them by taking adequate steps
▰ Management is an iterative process - rule that can be applied
repeatedly to generate a sequence of outcomes
