General Principles
 Data entry at the level of occurrence of the event [due
to resource constraint data entry being done at Block
level]
 Data entry, data aggregation to be software
engineered
 Data on the web in public domain
 Report generation on the basis of data entered
[currently monthly progress reports are being entered
at Ministry level]
 Available in local language
Necessity for computer based
MIS

scale data, which is difficult to monitor without MIS. The
Programme monitoring entails employment monitoring of

 To monitor the data and analyse the progress
 To enhance transparency and to meet RTI mandates
How to operationalise MIS

 Basic computer
 Software requirement
 MIS is Browser independent: Internet Explorer,
Mozilla or firefox can be used.
 Offline mode can operate on Open source-Linux
or Windows
 For offline operation NREGASoft is to loaded
 Trained Operators
 At least two operators at Block level.
MIS an aid to quality
implementation

 Employment Demand and supply [keeps tracks of allotment of
employment]

number of days of work done and the work on which
employment provided.
 Ensure and tracks Fund availability at each level
 Enhances Transparency [Muster rolls, Job Card register,
Employment register and information on works are available
on the MIS]
 Enhances promptness of Grievance Redressal
Operational Details of IT Plan
 The MIS structure and standard defined by
MORD
 States free to develop their own MIS with
interoperability and compatibility in perspective
 Gram Panchayat to be the basic unit for data
base design, but data entry could be done at
Block level
 Computerisation work of Block level could be
outsourced
