The monumental bell tower watches over the ancient church as a defensive tower. Inside a splendid early medieval “ciborium”. The marvelous crypt shows roman columns and capitals perfectly integrated in the romanesque structure. Montelabate Located in the gentle Umbrian hills, the monumental abbey of Montelabate is one of the many witnesses of the benedictine presence in our Region. The huge structure is surrounded by an inspiring silence remembering centuries of prayers and work around a splendid cloister. Even after having been abandoned for years and passed in private property, it still is the seat of a factory producing quality products and keeping the surrounding environment intact. In this way it maintains its original function of managing the territory.
