Consolidation:-
“Combining of various units into more efficient and stable larger units is called a
CONSOLIDATION .Server consolidation is an approach to the efficient usage of computer server
resources in order to reduce the total number of servers or server locations that an organization
requires.
Always on:-
Always on is latest technology introduce in 2012 SQL SERVER .Always on is HA-DR and
alternate solution for Database Mirroring. Its very flexible and multiple secondaries so its used for
offload balancing, secondary as readonly,backup and reporting purpose

WHY CONSOLIDATION and ALWAYSON:
Consolidation:
Consolidation reduces the Licensing cost of Windows server as well as SQL Server also it
provides the ease of manageability and standardization to the customer

Alwayson:
In Alwayson We can consolidate many SQL SERVER version into single SQL SERVER means
we can manage many consolidated database into Always on node as Availability Group and
Availability Group is primary and Secondary.
Primary Availability Group ,we can read write and Secondary Availability we can do readily only
process and also reporting purpose, backup and DBCC purpose.
customer’s merits included:
• Optimized database code with no deprecated features;
• Efficient high availability production system running on the latest edition of SQLServer;
• Increased performance, security and failover features.
To make the project even more cost-effective, we reduced travel expenses and performed all
upgrade operations remotely, using the RDP connection.
Finally, we provided the customer with a full set of documentation related to the upgraded system
and the best practices on using and upgrading the high availability database system.

Always on Structure
We had given six always on WSFC node for Always on configuration.
Three node in Thane subnet and three in CTRLs subnet.
We have configured Always on for multisubnet node.
Server Detail

Client having huge server setup for PRODUCTION Server We have migrated and check
status of server
Server Detail :
Total number of Server= 39 Servers
Total Number DB for migration on Always on =149
Operating System = Windows server 2003,2008 with Enterprise Edition
Servers with SQL Server Enterprise edition = 24 Servers
Servers with SQL Server Standard edition = 10 Servers
Server with other SQL Server Edition =05
ENVIRONMENT(After Migration and consolidated on Always on Detail):
Subnet : -Multisubnet
Location :- Thane (10.200.19.xx)
Location :- Mahape(10.200140.xx)
Operating System = Windows server 2012 Enterprise Edition

Always on Current Environment
INITIAL ANALYSIS PERFORMED:
Inventory collection of all the Production Servers.
Analyze all the SQL Server.
Analyze SQL Server licenses and Editions Currently Installed.
Studied Windows Server and SQL Server configurations.
Monitor the storage supplied to the servers.
Monitor Network requirement of the server.
Monitored IOP’s of the Server.
Monitor need of memory for server
Database Size and its property write down in docs.

RESULTS:
We have configured Always on in Six node with multisubnet and Performance of servers
are good. Client can access database 24X7 with no data loss. Performance is good due
to secondary use as Reporting purpose, Backup purpose and DBCC checking.
