Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a demyelinating disorder affecting the central nervous system, with around 2.5 million patients globally, prevalent in women and typically diagnosed between ages 20-40. Diagnosis involves MRI, lumbar puncture, and exclusion of similar diseases, while treatment can include acute corticosteroids and disease-modifying agents. Pregnancy generally does not negatively impact MS or fertility, and long-term outcomes show that 85% of MS patients manage well, especially with treatment.
