This document provides examples for solving multiple-step dosage calculation problems. It explains that it may be necessary to first convert units before setting up a proportion to solve the problem. A 4-step process is outlined: 1) set up a proportion, 2) convert to like units, 3) substitute the converted unit into the proportion, 4) cross multiply and solve. Several examples are then provided applying this process to calculate the amount in different available units based on the amount ordered.

Multiple­Step Calculation January 11, 2013 It may be necessary to convert from one unit to another first before  solving a dosage problem. Steps: 1. Set up proportion 2. Convert to like units 3. Substitute converted unit into proportion 4. Cross multiply and solve.
