About the Department
The mission of the Department of Production
Technology is to develop disciplined, socially
committed and technically competent manufacturing
engineers with creative ability, comprehension and
managerial skill to design and manufacture quality
products for the benefit of mankind. The Department
of Production Technology was established in the year
1977 and offers B.E. (Production Engineering, M.E.
(Manufacturing Engineering) and M.E. Mechatronics,
an unique programme was stated in the year 1999, for
the first time in the country. The Department was
accredited by National Board of Accreditation during
1998 and 2008. The Department has organized
several national level seminars/conferences,
summer/winter schools, faculty development training
programmes and short term programmes in the areas
of low cost automation, CNC machines and
programming and fluid power automation. Since
1977, 50 scholars have been awarded Ph.D. degree
currently, there are 55 research scholars pursuing
their research work in the department. Many ongoing
sponsored research projects and consultancy works
have been successfully completed.
The ongoing research areas in the Department:
• Composite Materials
• Parallel Manipulators
• Robotics
• MEMS and Nanotechnology
• Petrinets and PLC
• Image Processing
• Superplastic Forming
• Condition monitoring
• FEA/FEM
• CAPD

• Surface Engineering
Objectives
The national workshop on Emerging Trends in
Nanomaterials for Engineering Applications (ETNEA
2014) is the forum for the presentation of
contemporary developments and the emerging issues
in the areas of theoretical, experimental and applied
nanotechnology engineering. Nanotechnology
promises an unprecedented era of innovation across
multiple disciplines and diverse applications. Its
pursuits and activities are proliferating with different
approaches, from top-down to bottom-up to
converging techniques, and with varying degree of
maturity from concept to commercialization. The key
to realize nanotechnology's potential is still the ability
to assemble and manufacture nano-scale devices,
structures with dimensions smaller than 100nm. This
workshop will focus on all applications of
nanomaterials that will accelerate nanotechnology's
progress towards the innovative research and also in
the development of cost effective products. Further
this would help in developing technologies for current
novel devices and applications, including enabling
and differentiating aspects in materials, metrology,
characterization, and reliability.
Keynote and Invited Lectures
The conference will consist of keynote
address/invited lectures from eminent
personalities on the current topics of interest in
the area of nanotechnology.
