The Id, Ego, and Super-Ego in T.S. Eliot’s The Love Song...
T.S. Eliot s poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock is inhabited by both a richly developed world
and character and one is able to categorize the spaces in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock to
correspond to Prufrock s mind. Eliot uses the architecture of the three locations described in the text to
explore parts of Prufrock s mind in the Freudian categories of id, ego, and super ego; the city that is
described becomes the Ego, the room where he encounters women his Id and the imagined ocean
spaces his Super Ego. Eliot is vague in his suggestion of Prufrock s audience, only referring to the
listener once using you and I; (1) however, by analyzing Eliot s intertextual inclusion of the passage
from Dante s Inferno and Prufock s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These issues the introversion, the self degradation are joined by a myriad of other psychological
disturbances that are all derived from inability to fulfill sexual desire. The poem becomes an
introspective examining of the faults in the mind of a man. By including the quote from Dante s
Inferno, and creating a character that is so introverted Eliot suggests that Prufrock is examining his
own mind and delving into the most delicate of problems. If one applies the Freudian concepts of id,
ego, and super ego to Prufrock s troubled mind, a clear delineation of three sections is made in the
poem. A short explanation of id ego and super ego is necessary in connecting them to the spaces in the
text. Freud s theory stemmed from a need to classify the parts of the mind . From this stems the
organization of personality into three parts all of which are demonstrated in the Love Song of J. Alfred
Prufrock . The id is the impulsively and instinctually driven section of Freud s personality complex
and is based on seeking pleasure. An especially important factor for Prufrock is that the id
encompasses is sexual desire. It is largely accountable for the unconscious mind. The ego is the most
rationalized and outward facing of the personalities that creates a practical approach in

Domino s Pizza was able to strike a balance between simplicity and enforcement of the application
process without configuring the solution in a format that would be too cumbersome for the average
store manager. With the help of Taleo, we ve been able to solve our paperwork compliance problem
without sacrificing functionality or a simple user interface. There are no more excuses of lost
paperwork and we can now quickly see which applicants are missing documents, therefore reducing
liability, says Mayer.
Passing Information Directly to Timekeeping System
With the help of Taleo, Domino s Pizza also eliminated the need for the manager to enter application
information into the point of sale system which is also used as the timekeeping system in the stores.
Taleo passes basic human resource information for each new employee directly to the timekeeping
system within two hours after hiring. Because this eliminates manual data entry and typos, data
integrity improved dramatically.
Increasing Sourcing and Talent Pipeline Visibility
Since implementing Taleo, Domino s Pizza has seen improvements in several areas within its
recruiting process. First it improved decision support. Using Taleo, managers can drill down into
sourcing data and applicant flow. With its staffing report by store, the HR team can see how many
employees each store needs and how many qualified applicants are in their talent queue. This

Lewis And Clark Analysis
The purpose of the Lewis and Clark Journals was for them to find an all water route to the ocean but
to also document what they did and what they encountered during their voyage such as people,
animals, and plants that could help the United States.
In 1803, the great expanse of the Louisiana Purchase was an empty canvas for the United States.
Thomas Jefferson paid Meriwether Lewis to lead an expedition from the Missouri River to the
northern Pacific coast and back. From 1804 to 1806, accompanied by co captain William Clark, the
guide of Sacajawea, and thirty two men, Lewis mapped rivers, traced the waterways to the sea, and
established the American claim to the areas of Idaho, Washington, and Oregon. Together the captains

July, Lewis party confronts a few Blackfeet warriors trying to steal their horses and guns, two Indians
are killed in the scuffle that ensues. Afraid of being killed, the group flees toward their rendezvous
point with Clark at the mouth of the Yellowstone. In total, the expedition traveled roughly 8,000 miles
by boat, on foot, and on horseback.
Lewis and Clark received warm welcomes in every town they arrived in. Once reaching the nation s
capital, Lewis received payment for his courageous efforts. Along with his salary and 1,600 acres of
land, he was named governor of the Louisiana Territory. Lewis died on October 12, 1809, at an inn
near Nashville, Tennessee. He had been on his way to Washington, D.C. at the time. Most historians
believe he committed suicide while a few have contended that he was murdered. Despite his tragic
end, Lewis helped change the face of the United States by exploring uncharted territory of the

Captain Toad Essay
The bite sized Captain Toad stages in Super Mario 3D World were a wonderful side dish, offering a
very different type of challenge from the rest of the game. Little did we know at the time that the
compact, puzzle like levels would eventually find new life in a full fledged game, Captain Toad:
Treasure Tracker. Now, Captain Toad and Toadette, his partner in plunder, have hit the road on a quest
of their own, and it s one of the most charming and enjoyable games to grace the Wii U. The two tiny
explorers squawk and trot to all corners of the Mushroom Kingdom in search of golden treasure, and
occasionally to rescue each other from danger. While it has a gleeful exterior, Captain Toad: Treasure
Tracker s also a deceptively challenging romp, especially if you attempt to uncover all of the game s
hidden items.
The Toads outing is distinct from other adventures in the Mario universe for many reasons, but one in
particular stands out: their abilities are pared down to the basics. They can t jump, and they don t take
on any super powered transformations. All they can do is walk, climb ladders, throw turnips, and use
their headlamps to fend off ghosts. Such simplicity may sound boring, but it works ... Show more

Because of these books, fanfiction has been getting a lot of attention over the last year. If you didn t

it s just a childish trend that obsessed teens have just started doing. Or people may praise it, and say it

Kennedy Second World War Analysis
The First World War was led to the Second World War. The second world war direct led to cold War.
The cold war was a state of political hostility between countries characterized by threats propaganda,
and anther measures short of warfare, in particular. In the other hand the cold war was a time of
political and military tension that occurred about in the year following World War II. The war was
between Eastern Black the Soviet Union and the Western Black the Unit State. These two potential
countries, the united states and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics ( USSR) had extremely
different political, economic, social and ideological differences, and as a result the use of diplomacy
was instrument in preventing the advent of a third world War. Throughout his pre presidential career,
JFK was an active Cold Warrior. As noted, HIS FIRST Congressional campaign boasted of taking on
the anti Cold War faction of the Democratic party led by Henry Wallace, and as a congressman he
aligned himself with those who said the Truman Administration wasn t being tough enough, when he

I have received many things, but there is one thing that has stood out to me, that would be the cheer
shoes that my mom got for me before the cheer season starting in June. I got a pair of cheer shoes this

because the support has worn out of them. My mom then bought me a new pair of shoes. You re

Crash The Movie
Whether we are aware of it or not contact zones are prevalent throughout are daily lives. I try to look
past it and I feel like we all do but it s something I can t escape. I m constantly reminded of the contact
zone that we live in whether by the personal experience, word of mouth, or the media. I see the fight
between multiple cultural groups, leading to the oppression of the inferior group and the dominance of
the superior group. The social differences of people have been around since man existed. I experience
it all the time in my daily life with small issues, as well as larger issues, contact zones always seem to
be appearing. I ask myself all the time what really is a contact zone? A contact zone is not only the
clash or emergence of contrasting cultural groups, but the thought that one sees himself/herself as
better than the other.
The movie Crash opens my eyes to the multiple contact zones of different cultures. I see this with the
different races, opinions, and ethics in the movie. The movie opens my eyes to the many different
viewpoints from a wide range of cultures. The purpose of the movie is to show how different cultural
groups judge and react to each other. The movie opens with the quote, It s the sense of touch, any real
city you walk you brush past people, people bump into you, in LA nobody touches you, we are always
behind this metal and glass. I think we miss that touch so much, we crash into each other just to feel
something. With this quote you get

Essay about Renting Versus Buying
Buying a home can be an exciting experience for anyone. However, in some cases you just might be
better off continuing to rent your home. There are many advantages to buying a home. However, it is
not for everyone and buying varies from individual to individual. Currently more people are leaning
towards renting but this could change in the near future.
When someone makes the decision to buy or rent a home they must consider the advantages and
disadvantages of each. In buying a home the primary advantage is that you actually own it. You can do
whatever you want with it. Also, you are building equity as the years go by. People today have
problems saving for their future (CNN Money, 2014). However, when they buy a home, the ... Show

You might be better off paying a reasonable amount for rent and saving your money when buying
seems more logical. Also, it depends on lifestyle preferences. Some people may not want to do all the
work that comes along with owning a home. As of right now many people are leaning towards renting.
This is because the market is going down. Some don t want to commit to a mortgage if when they go
to sell they can t find any buyers.
It is likely that the renting trend will decline and buying will increase in the future but it is hard to say
when. However, if rent keeps rising and prices keep falling, fearful buyers could slowly become
bargain hunters. (Business Week, 2014). I feel that people will eventually get tired of spending there
money on rent and will want to invest more in there future. I don t think that the real estate market will
ever be a boom again. I believe that people have learned that just because interest rates are low doesn t
mean they can financially take on a mortgage. Overall, buying a house is a big decision and should be
looked at carefully. You should look at the advantages and disadvantages of each and decide what is
best for you in your life. There is no way to pin point if buying or renting is best for anyone. Currently
many prefer to rent their homes. However, as rent rise, a majority may soon change their minds.

Omniscient Narrator
It is a 3rd person narrator, which means that the narrator describes the story s people as he or she. It is
an omniscient 3rd person narrator as you can see when the narrator says She passed on her way,
thinking: He s in love. This quotation illustrates why it is an omniscient narrator, because it highlights
that the narrator knows a person s feelings and thoughts. The fact that it is an omniscient narrator
gives the reader the ability to realize that the main character has a spilt personality. The narrator
describes how peo ple look at the main character s facade, but when you can see his thoughts you
know how he really is. The narrator is all things considered a very describing narrator as you can see
when he uses the entire first page on just describing how lovely New York is. The narrator is
trustworthy because he knows anything and he narrates the story with a neutral point of view. It makes
him more reliable because he just wants to narrate a story.
As a result this gives us the capacity to understand and relate to the characters. It pro vides us the
knowledge about the characters that we else would have missed. So saying it makes it easier for us to
understand the story.

atmosphere varies from the bright, idyllic, spring feeling to a gloomy and comfortless atmosphere.

The Horror Of Horror Films
Horror films are alluring to viewers for many reasons. Horror movies have longed to serve a purpose
which is to scare and also provide stories about the dark scary side of life. People watch horror movies
to get scared, for the thrill and most of all plain old entertainment. Three main characteristics of horror
films are according to Maggie McCutcheon is scaring people into creating morals, Stephen King
differs and says that horror films are made to let people s emotion and fears rein free, and Tim Dirks
feels that a film must have certain characteristics for a horror film to be considered good .
Horror films are not only meant to scare you but to also scare you into creating morals. Maggie
McCutcheon discusses in her article Too Disturbing, Too Shocking , that the purpose for horror films
is to scare you into having morals and it tells you how to act which benefits the society. This quote
explains the purpose for horror films according to McCutcheon Despite their gore, they are almost
always moral fables about how to act... , by telling you how to act they teach you main principles of
what good and evil are. What she means by good and evil is that all the gore from horror films
psychologically scares people into having morals and clearly see what is good from bad (1).
In Stephen King s article Why We Crave Horror Movies , he discusses his view on the purpose for
horror movies. In this quote he says, ... horror movies provide psychic relief... which means that

The Legality And Morality Of Abortion
The legality and morality of abortion is a huge topic in today s society. Are there ever times when it is
justified? Who has a say in the matter of whether or not it is justified? How does one know how to
justify abortion? Given a particular pregnancy, who should decide whether or not it ought to be
terminated? (Jaggar, 218) People argue over whether or not the unborn child has the right to life or
does the woman have the right to her own body. Other party s possibly involved are the state, medical
practitioners performing the abortion, and, of course, the father. There are clearly several parties that
have a stake in being involved in the decision.
In this paper I will be analyzing an article written by one woman that believes that there do exist
conditions under which the termination of a pregnancy could be justified. Furthermore she believes
that the right to that decision making belongs to the woman bearing the unborn child. In her article she
choses not to include utilitarian arguments for two reasons, first because, according to her, most of
them support her argument. Her second reason was that the main opposing utilitarian argument would
likely result in the involuntary termination of pregnancies by the state for reasons of population
control in todays society. Not only are there many people that might have a say in whether or not an
abortion should be performed but also there are many circumstances that could have an impact upon
the morality of and

Essay on The Life and Role of Wacs During WWII
In a 1944 magazine article, Eleanor Roosevelt claimed that American women are serving actively in
many ways in this war [World War II], and they are doing a grand job on both the fighting front and
the home front. 1 While many women did indeed join the workforce in the 1940s, the extent and
effects of their involvement were as contested during that time as they are today. Eleanor Roosevelt
was correct, however, in her evaluation of the women who served on the fighting front. Although
small in number due to inadequate recruitment, the women who left behind their homes and loved
ones in order to enlist in the newly established Women s Auxiliary Army Corp (WAAC), and later the

These jobs were no different than those which the women held at home, except now they would be
required to leave their homes, wear unappealing uniforms, and follow stringent rules.7 Despite these
setbacks in recruitment, many dedicated women, out of a sense of patriotism, signed up to serve their
country. Although the Wacs were initially intended to free soldiers from desk jobs, they soon became
efficient, multipurpose workers.8 The staff director from the European theater, Lt. Col. Anna W.
Wilson, said that Wacs are soldiers. Like all soldiers, they are used for whatever work they are nest
qualified to do. Most of these girls came over as plain secretaries and file clerks. Today, they are doing
a thousand and one different jobs, and new fields are opening up every day. 9 Lieutenant Wilson was
correct in saying that Wacs did a variety of jobs. As the Wacs in Europe demonstrated their value to
the war effort, they were coined Eisenhower s secret weapon. 10 In January 1944 it was determined
that women held 239 different jobs in the Army.11 The next largest group after secretaries was the
technical and professional workers; these women were everything from interpreters in North Africa to
meteorologists, photographers, and medical laboratory

Longitude: The True Story of a Lone Genius Who Solved the Greatest Scientific Problem of His Time
is written by Dava Sobel. The book is called Longitude because it is about a clock maker who was
able to determine longitude. Determining longitude was the superlative scientific question in the
eighteenth century that Galileo and Newton were not able to resolve.
The principal inspiration behind the invention completed in this book is that many sailors were lost at
seas as a result of their ignorance regarding longitude. So, without the competence to determine
longitude, many innocent lives were disintegrated at seas.

and exact for finding the longitude of a ship within the nearest limits proposed by the Parliament, H 2
was not good enough for Harrison. So, Harrison devoted nineteen years to build H 3. The H 3 was the

The bi metallic strip compensates immediately and automatically for any changes in temperature that

Harry Pierpont and Homer Van Meter. While John Dillinger was also doing his time his wife Beryl

Milk Lab Report
Dependency of curd mass on four different types of milk (Non Fat, Low Fat, Reduced Fat, Whole)
using lemon juice
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment was to determine if lemon juice would cause the different fat levels in
milk to affect the curd mass.
Background Information
The major components of milk are water, fat, proteins, lactose, carbohydrates, and minerals
(dairyprocessinghandbook.com) with the main proteins in milk being casein and whey. When the
casein protein separates from the whey, fat, and lactose in the milk, the product is micellar casein.
These micelles have a negative charge, are not soluble in water and moreover, repel each other, which
keeps them suspended in the milk solution.

The Media Portrayal Of Nurses
Professional nurses are as important, in achieving success, as any other component within the
healthcare sector. For instance, a professional nurse typically spends more time in direct contact with
patients than a physician does (Hendrich et al., 2008). Nevertheless, media sources have always
painted the picture of a nurse in various forms. Although nurses are sometimes perceived as life savers
and angels of mercy, the profession is often sexualized, stereotyped, and undermined in its importance
(Hoeve et al., 2014). In this paper I will describe how the media portrays a professional nurse, and
compare it with the current knowledge in literature searched through a professional search engine,
CINAHL. Then I will provide an insight into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their new home away from home, however, meant that they are confronted with new specific
responsibilities and challenges in the background of their exhaustive careers. They will have to make
new friends and keep previous relationships, while maintaining their professionalism. In later
episodes, however, their image is painted as fun seekers, hell raisers, and heart breakers. After their
work shifts, they embark on several fun activities in an attempt to blow off some steam. They
celebrate hard, drink hard, and party hearty. Moreover, they get involved in dating relationships and
break ups almost ensue. For instance, Chris starts dating a girl he works with and faces potential
heartbreak toward the end. Clash of personalities was never going to be left out too. Tyrice, for
example, feels ignored by other girls and wants to quit altogether. In general, the Scrubbing In is likely
intended for an audience of young nursing aspirants who wish to become professional nurses.
This portrayal gives me negative impression about nursing. Although Scrubbing In purports to
promote nursing profession, it fails to do so accurately. In spite of the initial portrayal of nurses as
hardworking life savers, the show focuses heavily on the nature of their parties, personal lives, and
volatile arguments. These events happen after working hours and there is clearly little or no interest in
the important work these nurses do in the hospital. Painting the image of nurses as

Comparison Of The Parson And The Canterbury Tales
In Chaucer s famous novel: The Canterbury Tales, he describes many characters in a satirical way,
while others he describes with complete admiration. The narrator (a constructed version of Chaucer
himself) is staying at the Tabard Inn in London, when a large group of about twenty nine people enter
the inn, preparing to go on a pilgrimage to Canterbury. After the narrator talks to them, he agrees to
join them on their pilgrimage. Although, before the narrator progresses any further in the tale, he
describes the circumstances and the social rank of each pilgrim. There are two characters in these tales
of the same social class, but Chaucer s opinion on them vary greatly. These two characters are the
beloved Parson, and the loathed Pardoner. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From this description alone, one can tell that the Parson truly views himself as the caretaker of
believing souls. He takes his responsibility extremely seriously. Associating the Parson with characters
like the Friar, Monk, Prioress, Pardoner, and Summoner makes those characters appear even more
covered with sin and selfishness. The Parson s presence on the pilgrimage is needed. Without him,
there would be no idea of what a religious figure should be, while, with him, we have a nearly Christ
like view of comparison. Who truly know Christ s gospel and would preach it devoutly to
parishioners, and teach it. Benign and wonderfully diligent, and patient when adversity was sent.
(Chaucer, 491 494). As for Chaucer s views of society, Chaucer clearly does not have an issue with the
church class itself. Rather, he knows there are some corrupt souls and people who do not deserve to be
a part of the church. The Parson is the ideal person that belongs in this class, and it is obvious that
Chaucer understands religion, and has nothing against it. He only frowns upon the deceitful church
members, who are only a part of the church for selfish gain. The Pardoner is another church class
member that is described by Chaucer. Except, Chaucer has some strong feelings about this particular
man. The pardoner sells pardons for sins, and also travels with the summoner while simultaneously
singing a duet with him. This man seemed to be normal, until Chaucer describes this man as

Nikita Sergeyevich Kruschev Essay
Nikita Sergeyevich Kruschev
Serving as one the most controversial leaders of the Soviet Union during its relatively short existence,
Nikita Sergeyevich Khruschev proved to be a leader capable of transforming a nation. Through his
many alterations to the systems by which the Soviets lived, he managed to increase the standard of
living and productivity of this Communist State. Described as a man of enormous energy and drive, he
was shrewd, tough, earthy, sociable and talkative, and he confidently took colossal gambles in both
foreign and domestic policies. From his Secret Speech and the following De Stalinization of the
Union, to the friendly relations with other countries of the world, his goal to remodel the Soviet Union

One week after this occurrence, Khruschev took over control of the Communist party from Malenkov.
He then proceeded to arrest Beria, head of the secret police, and execute him along with six of his
aides. By this time he was the acknowledged head of the Communist party. He quickly rose to the
position of Premier when, in 1956 he forced Malenkov to resign from the position. Following this he
delivered a compelling speech to the people denouncing many of Stalin s actions. He expelled all of
his remaining rivals in June of 1957. The four main rivals, Molotov, Malenkov, Kaganovich, and
Shepilov, were not executed as a responsible action to exhibit Khruschev s compassion and
responsibility in an effort to boost public support. As a result of this political campaign based on
responsibility and compassion, he freed many political prisoners and urged peaceful coexistence with
the West. This process of solidifying his leadership took a long time and was a great risk to him and
his people because of the past popularity and support of Stalin and his ways.
Although he seemed to be steering the Soviet Union in the right direction, his people and colleagues
still viewed him critically. He had begun to realize that a state could not be run with a lot of brain

development of individual thinkers, Soviets with a mind of their own. In order to allow this new wave

Buddhism Breaks Apart Essay example
Buddhism Breaks Apart
Buddhism is the religion of spiritual enlightenment through the suppressing of one s worldly desires.
Buddhism takes one on the path of a spiritual journey, to become one with their soul. It teaches one
how to comprehend life s mysteries, and to cope with them. Founded in 525 B.C. by Siddhartha
Gautama; Theravada Buddhism is the first branch of Buddhism; it was a flourishing religion in India
before the invasions by the Huns and the Muslims, and Mahayana Buddhism formed due to new
locations, it was altered according to local influences. Buddhists believe that Buddha is not a deity, but
just an ideal guide to reach enlightenment in order to get closer to God.

Traveling the world in search of answers Buddha became exhausted and discouraged; Buddha sat
down beneath a papal tree, and vowed that he wouldn t move until he had reached enlightenment.
After forty days without food or water, Buddha finally reached an enlightened state. Buddhism was
formed in 525 B.C. when Buddha achieved enlightenment.
After obtaining enlightenment, Buddha formed the basic beliefs for his followers. The four noble
truths are the early doctrines of Buddhism, Dukhka, Trishna, Nirvana, and Eightfold Path. (Columbia
Electronic Encyclopedia, 6th Edition pg 3) Enlightenment can only be reached through these steps.
When one acknowledges suffering to be a part of life, they learn to deal with pain. If one is, suffering
then there is always a reason behind it, namely craving or attachment to material objects. There is a
cessation or pause of suffering, and that leads to the eightfold path if one has the right view, intentions,
speech, actions, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and concentration. During the remaining forty five
years, Buddha spent his life traveling teaching others how to gain enlightenment.
During Buddha s life, his teachings were recorded orally, and it wasn t until after his death that the
teachings were written down. There was confusion in how accurate the text scriptures were, and so out
of the eighteen early Buddhist schools Theravada Buddhism was chosen. The Theravada Buddhist

Jim s Lack Of Enthusiasm
Some symptoms include Jim s lack of enthusiasm or interest in activities that previously brought him
satisfaction, such as Jim s excellence in school, as he eventually became uninterested in attending his
college classes. Instead he would watch TV all day and not come out of his room. He believed he had
special powers and that he could control the behavior of the characters on TV with his mind. As the
book describes, this no longer was a feeling but Jim seriously concluded that he had underwent some
type of transformation that gave him the ability to control peoples behaviors and feelings. This even
caused him to stare at people in public to provoke such reactions. He also concluded that he was God
like and contained a life force in his breathing, which only caused him to breath on people, because he
had heard God s angels tell him that he was now the Messiah. Jim also became paranoid that others
were constantly talking about his powers and trying to take them, which caused him anxiety, and led
to him leaving the house less and less. He also smoked marijuana in large quantities because it reduces
oxygen in the breath and that reduces its effect. When his mother asked how he was, Jim could only
mumble about angels and the life force, out of severe confusion. Jim hardly talked or socialized with
anyone, and when he did, it was only with his family. He did not stick to his prescribed medication,
and thus his hallucinations anxiety, and confusion only increased. These

Self-Delusion In Arthur Miller s Death Of A Salesman

two characters, show how and explain why self delusion is a hindrance to developing a true, honest
sense of self. Use two or three specific examples and relevant quotes from the text to support your
argument.
Self delusion is the act of deceiving one s self, in the play Death of a Salesman we see self delusion
taking place between two characters which are Willy and his son Happy. In the play self delusion is a

Happy s self delusions come from wanting to exceed his father s expectations in hopes that one day
his father would approve. Since Happy had always listened to his father s over exaggerated stories it is
possible that he himself learned to over exaggerate his own so that he could appear well off and
successful. One of Happy s self delusions is portraying that he is successful in his job, he claims to be
the assistant buyer but in reality he is the assistant to the assistant You big blow, are you the assistant
buyer? You re one of the two assistants to the assistant, aren t you? (pg.131). This fits the theme of self
delusion because Happy cannot seem to grasp reality and instead hopes that people will believe his
eccentric job title. Another self delusion that Happy seems to create is embellishing the stories about
his affairs with most women and how a lot of women want him because he is a womanizer. Happy
sounds proud of himself when speaking about how he has ruined the lives of the women that he has
had sexual relations with because they happened to be married. Another self delusion that Happy
keeps repeating is that he is going to get married. Happy is a womanizer and most likely is not going
to get married anytime soon in the play because he seems to enjoy the company of a lot of woman
even though he feels lonely. Happy telling his father that he is going to get married is so that he could
reach his father s standards and so that his father could realize that he is getting his life in order and all
that he is really missing is a wife. Happy s self delusions come into play when you see him mimicking

Research Achievements Of Construction Ergonomics
Research Achievements in Construction Ergonomics As the rapid development and extensive
applications of motion capture technology in the past few years, advances in WMSD assessment have
been made in the construction research field, especially on the posture oriented assessment. Among
them, vision based studies and wearable sensor systems are two main ongoing streams and the details
are discussed respectively. Table 4 provides a state of the art overview in achievements of a variety of

Income tax assessments are computed for a tax year of assessment. They are based on a taxpayer s
total income for the year from all sources and it does not include income exempt from income tax.
Taxable Persons
Persons resident in the UK for a tax year are charged to income tax on their total income for that year
(includes both income arising in the UK and income arising overseas). There are two exceptions to the
rule; some forms of income are fully exempt from income tax; and UK residents whose permanent
home is not in the UK may claim that the income they make overseas should be subject to UK income

income tax on only their UK income. Income tax is payable by: * Adults, on their own income and on
their share of partnership income * Children, if they have sufficient income to pay tax * Trustees, on
the income of a trust or settlement * Personal representatives, on income arising from the estate of a

The Worst Day Of The World
The worst day in the world started just like any other morning, it was the first morning of the school
holidays and Mum had cooked us a breakfast feast fit for the Queen. There were three kinds of eggs,
poached, scrambled and fried, with a side of bacon and mushrooms, hash browns and toast, plus
pancakes and orange juice. Dad was digging into his serving when he looked up excitedly and said,
Guess what? I ve got a live interview with the one and only, Oprah Winfrey! She s coming all the way
from America and her first stop in Australia is here in Sydney, at our national news broadcaster,
Sunshine! That s amazing, Thomas! said Mum, Well, Rebecca is going to my work today and see how
Mum does her important job. I just rolled my eyes because we both knew that Mum couldn t leave me
at home and I couldn t go with the others, so Mum was pretty much forced to take me to her work.
Actually, I had to remind Mum that I was going to be alone at home today because she forgot about
me! This breakfast is surely going to boost my confidence for my drama exam, today, said Samantha,
my 16 year old sister, enthusiastically. Thanks, said Mum, Who tells the best chicken jokes? Comedi

Lady In Paris
Known as one of the most famous Latin American writers, Julio Cortazar experimented with writing
techniques and existential questions in his work. One of his short stories, A Letter to a Young Lady in
Paris , is written in the form of a letter from the narrator to their significant other, Andrea, who is away

to attempt to explain that the damage Andrea will inevitably come home was caused by a group of
rabbits brought into the world through an anomaly the narrator experiences in which they vomit up a

actually the narrator s suicide note. The rabbits symbolize the narrator s desire for creative freedom,
which he continually attempts to suppress and keep under control, until the eleventh rabbit comes

  • 2. The Id, Ego, and Super-Ego in T.S. Eliot’s The Love Song... T.S. Eliot s poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock is inhabited by both a richly developed world and character and one is able to categorize the spaces in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock to correspond to Prufrock s mind. Eliot uses the architecture of the three locations described in the text to explore parts of Prufrock s mind in the Freudian categories of id, ego, and super ego; the city that is described becomes the Ego, the room where he encounters women his Id and the imagined ocean spaces his Super Ego. Eliot is vague in his suggestion of Prufrock s audience, only referring to the listener once using you and I; (1) however, by analyzing Eliot s intertextual inclusion of the passage from Dante s Inferno and Prufock s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These issues the introversion, the self degradation are joined by a myriad of other psychological disturbances that are all derived from inability to fulfill sexual desire. The poem becomes an introspective examining of the faults in the mind of a man. By including the quote from Dante s Inferno, and creating a character that is so introverted Eliot suggests that Prufrock is examining his own mind and delving into the most delicate of problems. If one applies the Freudian concepts of id, ego, and super ego to Prufrock s troubled mind, a clear delineation of three sections is made in the poem. A short explanation of id ego and super ego is necessary in connecting them to the spaces in the text. Freud s theory stemmed from a need to classify the parts of the mind . From this stems the organization of personality into three parts all of which are demonstrated in the Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock . The id is the impulsively and instinctually driven section of Freud s personality complex and is based on seeking pleasure. An especially important factor for Prufrock is that the id encompasses is sexual desire. It is largely accountable for the unconscious mind. The ego is the most rationalized and outward facing of the personalities that creates a practical approach in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lewis And Clark Analysis The purpose of the Lewis and Clark Journals was for them to find an all water route to the ocean but to also document what they did and what they encountered during their voyage such as people, animals, and plants that could help the United States. In 1803, the great expanse of the Louisiana Purchase was an empty canvas for the United States. Thomas Jefferson paid Meriwether Lewis to lead an expedition from the Missouri River to the northern Pacific coast and back. From 1804 to 1806, accompanied by co captain William Clark, the guide of Sacajawea, and thirty two men, Lewis mapped rivers, traced the waterways to the sea, and established the American claim to the areas of Idaho, Washington, and Oregon. Little did we know at the time that the compact, puzzle like levels would eventually find new life in a full fledged game, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. Now, Captain Toad and Toadette, his partner in plunder, have hit the road on a quest of their own, and it s one of the most charming and enjoyable games to grace the Wii U. The two tiny explorers squawk and trot to all corners of the Mushroom Kingdom in search of golden treasure, and occasionally to rescue each other from danger. While it has a gleeful exterior, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker s also a deceptively challenging romp, especially if you attempt to uncover all of the game s hidden items. The Toads outing is distinct from other adventures in the Mario universe for many reasons, but one in particular stands out: their abilities are pared down to the basics. They can t jump, and they don t take on any super powered transformations. All they can do is walk, climb ladders, throw turnips, and use their headlamps to fend off ghosts. These two potential countries, the united states and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics ( USSR) had extremely different political, economic, social and ideological differences, and as a result the use of diplomacy was instrument in preventing the advent of a third world War. Throughout his pre presidential career, JFK was an active Cold Warrior. I m constantly reminded of the contact zone that we live in whether by the personal experience, word of mouth, or the media. I see the fight between multiple cultural groups, leading to the oppression of the inferior group and the dominance of the superior group. The social differences of people have been around since man existed. I experience it all the time in my daily life with small issues, as well as larger issues, contact zones always seem to be appearing. I ask myself all the time what really is a contact zone? A contact zone is not only the clash or emergence of contrasting cultural groups, but the thought that one sees himself/herself as better than the other. The movie Crash opens my eyes to the multiple contact zones of different cultures. I see this with the different races, opinions, and ethics in the movie. The movie opens my eyes to the many different viewpoints from a wide range of cultures. The purpose of the movie is to show how different cultural groups judge and react to each other. The movie opens with the quote, It s the sense of touch, any real city you walk you brush past people, people bump into you, in LA nobody touches you, we are always behind this metal and glass. There are many advantages to buying a home. However, it is not for everyone and buying varies from individual to individual. Currently more people are leaning towards renting but this could change in the near future. When someone makes the decision to buy or rent a home they must consider the advantages and disadvantages of each. In buying a home the primary advantage is that you actually own it. You can do whatever you want with it. Also, you are building equity as the years go by. People today have problems saving for their future (CNN Money, 2014). However, when they buy a home, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You might be better off paying a reasonable amount for rent and saving your money when buying seems more logical. Also, it depends on lifestyle preferences. Some people may not want to do all the work that comes along with owning a home. As of right now many people are leaning towards renting. This is because the market is going down. Some don t want to commit to a mortgage if when they go to sell they can t find any buyers. It is likely that the renting trend will decline and buying will increase in the future but it is hard to say when. However, if rent keeps rising and prices keep falling, fearful buyers could slowly become bargain hunters. (Business Week, 2014). I feel that people will eventually get tired of spending there money on rent and will want to invest more in there future. I don t think that the real estate market will ever be a boom again. I believe that people have learned that just because interest rates are low doesn t mean they can financially take on a mortgage. Overall, buying a house is a big decision and should be looked at carefully. You should look at the advantages and disadvantages of each and decide what is best for you in your life. There is no way to pin point if buying or renting is best for anyone. Currently many prefer to rent their homes. However, as rent rise, a majority may soon change their minds. ... It is an omniscient 3rd person narrator as you can see when the narrator says She passed on her way, thinking: He s in love. This quotation illustrates why it is an omniscient narrator, because it highlights that the narrator knows a person s feelings and thoughts. The fact that it is an omniscient narrator gives the reader the ability to realize that the main character has a spilt personality. The narrator describes how peo ple look at the main character s facade, but when you can see his thoughts you know how he really is. The narrator is all things considered a very describing narrator as you can see when he uses the entire first page on just describing how lovely New York is. The narrator is trustworthy because he knows anything and he narrates the story with a neutral point of view. It makes him more reliable because he just wants to narrate a story. Horror movies have longed to serve a purpose which is to scare and also provide stories about the dark scary side of life. People watch horror movies to get scared, for the thrill and most of all plain old entertainment. Three main characteristics of horror films are according to Maggie McCutcheon is scaring people into creating morals, Stephen King differs and says that horror films are made to let people s emotion and fears rein free, and Tim Dirks feels that a film must have certain characteristics for a horror film to be considered good . Horror films are not only meant to scare you but to also scare you into creating morals. Maggie McCutcheon discusses in her article Too Disturbing, Too Shocking , that the purpose for horror films is to scare you into having morals and it tells you how to act which benefits the society. This quote explains the purpose for horror films according to McCutcheon Despite their gore, they are almost always moral fables about how to act... , by telling you how to act they teach you main principles of what good and evil are. What she means by good and evil is that all the gore from horror films psychologically scares people into having morals and clearly see what is good from bad (1). • 14. The Legality And Morality Of Abortion The legality and morality of abortion is a huge topic in today s society. Are there ever times when it is justified? Who has a say in the matter of whether or not it is justified? How does one know how to justify abortion? Given a particular pregnancy, who should decide whether or not it ought to be terminated? (Jaggar, 218) People argue over whether or not the unborn child has the right to life or does the woman have the right to her own body. Other party s possibly involved are the state, medical practitioners performing the abortion, and, of course, the father. There are clearly several parties that have a stake in being involved in the decision. In this paper I will be analyzing an article written by one woman that believes that there do exist conditions under which the termination of a pregnancy could be justified. Furthermore she believes that the right to that decision making belongs to the woman bearing the unborn child. In her article she choses not to include utilitarian arguments for two reasons, first because, according to her, most of them support her argument. Her second reason was that the main opposing utilitarian argument would likely result in the involuntary termination of pregnancies by the state for reasons of population control in todays society. Not only are there many people that might have a say in whether or not an abortion should be performed but also there are many circumstances that could have an impact upon the morality of and ... Essay on The Life and Role of Wacs During WWII In a 1944 magazine article, Eleanor Roosevelt claimed that American women are serving actively in many ways in this war [World War II], and they are doing a grand job on both the fighting front and the home front. 1 While many women did indeed join the workforce in the 1940s, the extent and effects of their involvement were as contested during that time as they are today. Eleanor Roosevelt was correct, however, in her evaluation of the women who served on the fighting front. Although small in number due to inadequate recruitment, the women who left behind their homes and loved ones in order to enlist in the newly established Women s Auxiliary Army Corp (WAAC), and later the Women s Army Corps (WAC), were deemed invaluable to the war ... These jobs were no different than those which the women held at home, except now they would be required to leave their homes, wear unappealing uniforms, and follow stringent rules.7 Despite these setbacks in recruitment, many dedicated women, out of a sense of patriotism, signed up to serve their country. Although the Wacs were initially intended to free soldiers from desk jobs, they soon became efficient, multipurpose workers.8 The staff director from the European theater, Lt. Col. Anna W. Wilson, said that Wacs are soldiers. Like all soldiers, they are used for whatever work they are nest qualified to do. Most of these girls came over as plain secretaries and file clerks. Today, they are doing a thousand and one different jobs, and new fields are opening up every day. 9 Lieutenant Wilson was correct in saying that Wacs did a variety of jobs. As the Wacs in Europe demonstrated their value to the war effort, they were coined Eisenhower s secret weapon. 10 In January 1944 it was determined that women held 239 different jobs in the Army.11 The next largest group after secretaries was the technical and professional workers; these women were everything from interpreters in North Africa to meteorologists, photographers, and medical laboratory ... The book is called Longitude because it is about a clock maker who was able to determine longitude. Determining longitude was the superlative scientific question in the eighteenth century that Galileo and Newton were not able to resolve. The principal inspiration behind the invention completed in this book is that many sailors were lost at seas as a result of their ignorance regarding longitude. H 2 was also bar shaped and included an implement to ensure a unchanging drive and a more agreeable temperature reimbursement device. Although its motion was adequately regular and exact for finding the longitude of a ship within the nearest limits proposed by the Parliament, H 2 was not good enough for Harrison. So, Harrison devoted nineteen years to build H 3. The H 3 was the leanest of the sea clocks and was small enough to meet the definition of amp;#8220;shipshape. ; H 3 contained bearings in the caged ball that smoothened the operation with moving parts. Unlike H 1 and H 2, H 3 ran on two large circular balances wheels linked by metal ribbons. In addition, it was controlled by a single spiral spring. Furthermore, Harrison introduced a bi metallic strip in the H 3. The bi metallic strip compensates immediately and automatically for any changes in temperature that could effect the clock amp;#8217;s going rate. But after the H 3 was completed Harrison realized that a small watch might be the greatest device to figure out the longitude. As a result, John Harrison completed H 4 in1759. After the narrator talks to them, he agrees to join them on their pilgrimage. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From this description alone, one can tell that the Parson truly views himself as the caretaker of believing souls. He takes his responsibility extremely seriously. Associating the Parson with characters like the Friar, Monk, Prioress, Pardoner, and Summoner makes those characters appear even more covered with sin and selfishness. The Parson s presence on the pilgrimage is needed. Without him, there would be no idea of what a religious figure should be, while, with him, we have a nearly Christ like view of comparison. Who truly know Christ s gospel and would preach it devoutly to parishioners, and teach it. Benign and wonderfully diligent, and patient when adversity was sent. (Chaucer, 491 494). As for Chaucer s views of society, Chaucer clearly does not have an issue with the church class itself. Rather, he knows there are some corrupt souls and people who do not deserve to be a part of the church. The Parson is the ideal person that belongs in this class, and it is obvious that Chaucer understands religion, and has nothing against it. He only frowns upon the deceitful church members, who are only a part of the church for selfish gain. The Pardoner is another church class member that is described by Chaucer.
