- 2. Marina & The Diamonds - Blue The music video for ‘Blue’ by Marina and the diamonds is mainly performance based as their are very little shots of the main artist not performing her song. Though the majority of the shots don’t include much of a narrative they do include changes in scenery. The different types of scenery affect the way in which Marina performs her song. In the bright scenes when the lighting looks natural the artist looks quite heartbroken and stern which matches the theme but then the scenery switches to night time at a fairground and not only does the performance change but also the costumes change as well. Marina seems a lot more happy and seems to be enjoying herself more. For the final almost minute the main artist and some background dancers perform a dance as well as continuing to perform the song.The changing of attitude with scenery is a good idea that I could use in my music video.
- 3. Years & Years - Shine The music video for ‘Shine’ by Years & Years is majorly performance based but includes a loose narrative through shots. The narrative seems to be a house that is being wrecked. It shows a deeper metaphorical message. The facial expressions throughout the music video seem to be quite neutral or ‘broken’. The music video matches up with the lyrics to the song but not literally. The song is about someone searching for love whilst knowing that love has the ability to destroy him. The video shows the artist in a house while it gets destroyed but he still searches for something unknown to the viewer. The colours throughout the music video stick to quite a dim colour scheme. There is also a lot of close up shots and middle shots of the artist. These are common of indie music videos.
