- 3. Network Proposal Introduction The scope of this proposal is to create a better network for the Preston University that will allow them flexibility in the following categories: • Security • Data Backup • Network Scalability Prepared By hamza khan
- 4. Campus Details (2015) • 1 buildings on campus • 1computer lab • 4 administration / support facilities • Population (2015) • Total 2015 Population – approx 560 • 380 Full time Students, 120 Part time Students, 500 Total Students , 25 Academic Staff, 35 Support Staff / Management

Inventory of Network Devices Devices Need • 2Switches • 2Routers • 57 computers (50 for lab ,7 for Support Staff / Management Server Equipment • coaxial cable roll 1000 ft • 3 Print Servers • 1 Web Server • 1 Application Server • 1 Server (Linux OS) Server Equipment Continue: • 1 Directory Server for the Windows Server 2003/2008 • 1 Database Server Workstations • 3 Workstations • 3 Printers We are using mesh topology
- 6. Software Requirements • All workstation will be configured in the same manner. An image disk will be created to allow greater flexibility when troubleshooting. • All workstations will be running Virus Scan, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Live for email solutions. • Applications such as Medical Management, Windows Server 2003, SQL and Fedora 8 will be hosted at the City Center location via VPN.

Disaster Recovery Disaster Recovery • Being able to recover fast is key to the continuation of a business. • Fixing or Replacing hardware • Backups • Software errors • Knowing the legal ramifications Planning before it happens saves time and prevents the company from losing generated income. The scope of the Disaster Recovery Plan is to give the IT Admin a general idea of what to do in the event of an emergency.
- 8. Cost Analysis After examining the Disaster Recovery Plan, lets take a look at the cost of a disaster from an extreme point of view. The most valued components of the Preston University is its servers to do business with the insurance companies. Example: 3 Servers are down and none operational. Each server costs 6000rs and it will take 4 hours each to get new servers online and operational.
- 9. Cost Analysis Continue Now, I have created a percentage in which is more important to the company or should be of importance. Application Server 20% of the business Web Server 10% of the business Database Server 30% of the preston university Total cost required to develop this network is 60000rs
- 10. Testing New Network • Through using a Network Testing Script, many areas of the network can be tested at once. This will ensure that there are no problems once the network is in place for business.
