Assignment title                            Task 1- Be able to extract information from written sources

The purpose of this assignment is to improve your functional communication skills of those which are an essential part of everyday
life, but also specifically targets skills that you can expect to use on a regular basis within the creative media sector such as pitching
ideas, writing proposals and constructing reports. You will therefore develop their ability to communicate their thoughts and ideas
through pitches, proposals and reports to a range of audiences using appropriate modes of address and forms of technology.


Scenario:
Write a report to summarise the use of file formats used in IT and how you completed the task.

         Use the ICT and Computer Games E-Books in the E-bray Library on the VLE                                   Unit 2 - P1, M1, D1

         Search for the book “Beginning Game Graphics” - evidence in your project log
         Search on the phrase “Computer Game Design” - evidence in your project log
         Read pages (46-48) inclusive and summarise the main points.
                You should cover
                        How Tiles are used,
                        Saved?
                        What is a grid for?
                        Advantages of Tiles to build levels and to scroll through large tile
                           screens.
         Look for additional materials on the use of tiles within games to be included in your report – use
         additional sources to research types of game, you may want to include screen shots to illustrate
         your points, i.e. screen shot of an actual game that employs this method.
         Produce a log of any search criteria used and provide a bibliography.

e.g. books, journals, websites, magazines, newspapers, hand-outs
Extract information: e.g. write notes, summarise, highlight text, annotate document, underline passages, copy and paste extracts
