Hackers Steal Payment Card Data From
Over 1150 Intercontinental Hostels
• it found malware on payment card systems at 1,174 franchise hotels in the US.
• IHG identified malware accessing payment data from cards used at front desk
systems between September 29 and December 29, 2016, but the malware was
erased after the investigation got completed in March 2017
• The malware obtained credit card data, such as cardholders' names, credit card
numbers, expiration dates and internal verification codes, from the card's magnetic
stripe, although the company said there is no evidence of any unauthorized access
to payment card data after late December.
Snapchat user accounts vulnerable to
• Snapchat a Smartphone application that lets users share snapshots with friends is
catching fire among teenagers. It was first hacked in December when 4.6 million
Snapchat users were exposed in a database breach.
• This is not the end of vulnerabilities, Mohamed Ramadan, a security researcher with
Attack-Secure from Egypt, has spotted a new vulnerability on Snapchat that allow an
attacker to Brute-Force login credentials of the users. Brute-force is a process of
trying multiple passwords against a username until you get a correct password.
• This vulnerability allows anyone who knows your SnapChat email to brute force your
account’s password without any protection from snapchat side, there is no lockout.
Limited tries or even Captcha.
US Security Agency Hacked Pakistani Mobile
Networks
• The US National Security Agency (NSA) operators have hacked into
Pakistani mobile networks and have been spying on hundreds of IP
addresses in the country,WikiLeaks has claimed. "Hundreds of NSA cyber
weapons variants publicly released including code showing hacking of
Pakistan mobile system," WikiLeaks tweeted.
• The hacking group had initially put up its data cache for auction in exchange
for Bitcoin, however, a lack of buyers compelled it to release the data online.
OurMine strikes again, hundreds of popular
Youtube accounts hacked
•OurMine hackers who also call themselves “An
online security group” performed “The biggest
hack in the history ofYouTube.” As a result,
hundreds of popularYouTube channels were
compromised today.
Millions of Smartphone's using Broadcom
Wi-Fi chip can be hacked Over-the-Air
• Millions of smartphones and smart gadgets, including Apple iOS and many
Android handsets from various manufacturers, equipped with Broadcom
Wi-Fi chips are vulnerable to over-the-air hijacking without any user
interaction.
• Apple rushed out an emergency iOS 10.3.1 patch update to address a
serious bug that could allow an attacker within sameWi-Fi network to
remotely execute malicious code on the BroadcomWi-Fi SoC (Software-on-
Chip) used in iPhones, iPads, and iPods.
