SSCC has joined forces with its Manila hub to organize a long-term program aimed at building an 'army' of artists for peace and climate justice, culminating in a forum and festival from May 19-26, 2020. The program has received support from Philippine political leaders and multiple sponsoring organizations, including UNESCO. Additionally, board member Cecile Alvarez was honored with a life achievement award at the Philippine Live Entertainment, Arts and Festivals awards on February 8, 2020.

ORIGIN AND OBJECTIVES SSCC was delighted to have been invited to join forces with the head of its Manila South East Asian hub, Mrs. Cecile Guidote Alvarez and plan, co- organize and co-host a major long term programme on building an “army” of artists in support of peace and environmental, especially, climate ¨justice¨. The programme will culminate in a Manila Forum, workshop and festival, to be held from 19 to 26 May 2020. It was originally envisioned to cover the ten Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), but with SSCC participation, it will also cover the Wider Caribbean, Latin America and Africa in the spirit of south-south cooperation. SSCC JOINS THE PROGRAMME HOSTS IN MANILA SSCC Chairman, Dr. Sebek and its research assistant Mr. Valerio Ferri travelled to Philippines to form part of the organizing Secretariat.
