Good things come to those who Tweet! @fordementia
In the beginningTwitter? What’s that she asked? It’s a micro-blogging site and everyone’s using it!Maybe we should too? But what should we Tweet about? The wonderful work of our charity, the services we provide, events we hold and our fabulous fundraisers!Maybe we can build relationships with similar organisations too…now that’s an idea!
Is anybody listening?Ok, so I’ve Tweeted…now what?Wait, somebody replied with RT and repeated what I said…is this good?Actually it’s excellent- it means they endorse what you said and now their followers know all about it too!Great….maybe I should engage more.
How to make friends & influence peopleSo we’re a dementia charity with a large network of carers, why not follow other carer organisations? We also have Nurses who work within the NHS- follow NHS Trusts, Nurses and Nursing Organisations eg RCN.Follow people who have experiences of caring and dementia.Listen to what they’re saying and respond. Simples!
Measuring outcomesLet me tell you a story…@NursingTimes asked a question to which @fordementia responded.@NursingTimes liked our response so much they asked us to write an article. What happened next you say?Our story was featured on their website and in their newsletter.Result!
One good deed deserves another@fordementiabecame good friends with the very nice people from @vitalise through Twitter. We liked what they had to say and what their charity does.Ergo, we featured a story about their respite breaks for people with dementia and their partners on our website. They thought this was a grand idea and are going to reciprocate. And that my friends is what they call SOCIAL NETWORKING!
