It was a privilege and, most certainly, my pleasure to witness and be a part of one of our largest fundraising events, the Jones Lang LaSalle Golf Tournament, to benefit The Rise School of Dallas. The event featured Nyle Pruitt and from the beginning, Nyle and his wife Liz Pruitt, represented the needs of The Rise School FIRST – “It’s For The Kids.” During his pre-tournament trick-shot show, at Nyle’s feet was Luke Bedford, a four-year old precocious little boy who just happened to be born with Down Syndrome. I could immediately see Nyle & Liz’s excitement, the spirit and joy of being able to do what they love for the benefit of the school where Luke and 34 other pre-school children with Downs or another delay disability attend full time. I watched Nyle drive the golf ball very close to or past the 400 yard mark on the 18th hole consistently. He never let up and the “oohs” and “ahhs”, “ That’s the one!” and “You killed that!” were constantly coming from the golfers. I was and still am amazed. Chuck Burkhart - C5 Youth Foundation of Texas Nyle Pruitt has been a part of our fundraiser, The Lone Star Benefit Bash benefiting the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA), held for the past three years in the Dallas area. His presence at our event creates excitement, fun and impressive financial results. Nyle and his wife Liz have totally embraced FARA and are quite knowledgeable about the disease and our mission to find a cure. This knowledge is passionately transferred to each foursome that step up to watch 400+ yard drives after making a donation to FARA. With some extra promotion on the “Nyleator Hole” we have averaged over $40,000/year in gross receipts - 2011 results were $65,000! As a parent with two daughters with Friedreich’s Ataxia, I especially appreciate the extra effort Nyle and Liz devote to our event.
