Students created visual images using the site http://www.nga.gov/kids/zone/zone.htm Students created images using Photo Op interactive and the Jungle interactive. These images were used for writing activities by the students. If Happiness was a color, It would be orange As warm as a summer day. If Happiness was a taste It would be just like a caramel sundae. If Happiness was a feeling It would be as wet as a puppy's kiss. If Happiness was a smell It would be sweet as a baking cookie. If Happiness was a sound, It would be light as a child's laugh.
Photo Op is an interactive activity that introduces you to digital photography and digital photo editing. You will use the virtual camera to take snapshots. This interactive allows you to explore lighting, focus, shutter speed, and compositional effects. After you've taken some photos, switch to the Photo Op editor and transform your pictures into something completely different.
Using the jungle interactive allows students to create a scene using vivid colors, plants, and animals. These scenes could be used for writing assignments.

Jigsaw Visual projects were created using the site http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/ The students wrote Haiku poems and used the Big Huge Labs site to create a visual for their poem. The students saved their work and imported the images into Word. This student chose the jigsaw feature in Big Huge Lab. Winter Haiku By Alyssa Watching in the snow Tree to tree is all I see I watch, see nature
Trading Card This student chose to create her visual product by using the trading card feature. With this feature you can crop the picture. Choose a color for your card. Then the student filled in the title, sub-title, and description portion with the poem she wrote.
Illustrating a Story To illustrate a story they had written, these students posed for and took photographs to go along with the story. They changed their photos into comic-like illustrations using the BeFunky website, then created the story using the Book fold layout in Microsoft Word.

Google SketchUp
Google SketchUp 5 Cool Ideas for How to Use SketchUp in Your Classroom From Google Build a 3D model of your school. Use SketchUp to visualize the geometry concepts you are teaching. Create a 3D model of the California Missions and then incorporate those models into Google Earth. Have students build a model of their houses. When studying architecture of the past, create a 3D model of an ancient pyramid.
Technology Can Transform Art Technology can impact just about every facet of making and understanding art. It can provide artists with a rich source of reference material. It allows them access to a virtual canvas where they can both recreate old techniques and discover new artistic possibilities. Once the art is created, technology makes it much easier to use, share, and store the artwork and its related materials. - Mark Cuara, 2008
