Open Outcry Trading Club
“The national curriculum for mathematics aims to ensure that all pupils:
Become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics, including through varied and
frequent practice with increasingly complex problems over time, so that pupils develop
conceptual understanding and the ability to recall and apply knowledge rapidly and
accurately.
reason mathematically by following a line of enquiry, conjecturing relationships and
generalisations, and developing an argument, justification or proof using
mathematical language
can solve problems by applying their mathematics to a variety of routine and non-
routine problems with increasing sophistication, including breaking down problems
into a series of simpler steps and persevering in seeking solutions.
OPEN OUTCRY TRADING CLUB focuses on the Futures and Options arm of
Investment Banking.
The method of Open Outcry trading delivers many benefits including:
 Agile Mental Arithmetic
 Confidence
 Assertiveness
 Team Work
 Decision making
 Risk awareness
 Understanding of a real life work environment
 Time Management
 Working within a pressurised scenario
Students engage in ‘role play’ of an Open Outcry market, whilst learning to find their
voice, their own individuality whilst in a group scenario.
By understanding a market condition and impacting factors, students are able to
make decisions (based on the current market), which fulfils part of the Maths key
stage 3 & 4 in ratio understanding, in principles of probability and risk.
The hand signals used also improve dexterity, the ability to multitask, checking of trades
(teaching the checking of the work function) but also create a very visual, FUN teaching
environment.
For more advanced students we also explore more detailed areas of Banking –
 Settlements
 Static data
 Risk
 Computer Systems
 Transfer of funds
 Transaction Reporting
 Plus many others
We offer a truly unique teaching method, which can be tailored, for classes from 10 - 30
students with an ideal age range of 12 to 18.
All sessions can be exactly tailored to the students and educational departments specific
requirements.
