Openshift is Red Hat's container application platform. It was initially released in 2011 and has changed significantly since, now using Docker and Kubernetes. It provides a supported platform for deploying containerized applications that makes TLS handling and SELinux integration easy. However, Openshift is complex and requires experience to use properly. NFS storage should be avoided due to known issues.

History of Openshift • Openshift was initial released on May 4, 2011 => V2 • Origin of V2 was annouced 2012 • This was pre docker era • V2 was designed with gears and cartridges • V3 was released at Red Hat summit 2015 • V3 use Docker, kubernetes and Red Hat extensions • Changed a lot Since the first release 12.02.2018 3
