BarCamp is an open, participant-driven event where people gather to share, learn, discuss, give demos, and interact on various topics. There are no spectators, only participants, and no pre-scheduled presentations - participants choose which sessions to attend. BarCamp aims to foster community by providing a free, open environment for user-generated content without set speakers or agendas. The first BarCamp had 200 attendees and helped spawn similar "unconference" events worldwide focused on bringing people together to learn from each other.
