Simulation Education
The Blackboard Experiment Provided an effective platform for posting monthly articles and presentations. Initially run by only one staff  member No specific content designed for on-line use Provided a good starting point for our initial on-line learning needs 1 course site Limited support Unresponsive
The Perfect Storm  Additional base added 24 more staff Geographically dispersed across the province Limited local education resources Less experienced staff with initially high education needs Multiple requests from multiple departments
Requirements Flexible and user friendly distributed learning system Easy to use and maintain with 0.5 FTE educators Need to have the ability to present information by use of different multimedia: uploading PPT, documents and video Need to track and evaluate learners Must have the capability for instructors to interact with learners Must be cost effective
The Growth of  THE STARS CENTRE   ™ Requests from different departments within STARS for education  Our education team grew which created more specialization within our department Increased external demands for critical care level training
