This paper proposes a formalized framework and interaction model for organic user interfaces (OUIs), as well as specific design guidelines for their implementation, based on previous works in graphical and tangible user interfaces. The authors introduce the 'smag' interaction model, categorizing input techniques into tangible and intangible controls, and emphasize the importance of usability aspects in designing OUIs. The paper concludes by underscoring the need for a structured approach to OUI design, which has largely been overlooked in existing literature.
