This document provides an overview of William Miller and the Millerite movement from its beginnings until 1844. It summarizes Miller's background and upbringing on a farm, his service in the War of 1812, and his subsequent religious conversion and study of the Bible which led him to predict the return of Christ would occur between 1843-1844. It describes the build up of anticipation among the Millerites and their Great Disappointment on October 22, 1844 when Christ did not return as predicted.
