THE OZONE LAYER
Description about Ozone Layer
The Ozone layer is mainly found in the lower
portion of the Stratosphere, from approximately 20
to 30 Kilometers or 12 to 19 Miles above Earth,
although it’s thickness varies seasonally and
geographically.
The Inventor of Ozone Layer
 Charles Fabry
Two French Physicist
 Henry Buisson
1. Joseph Farman 2. Brian Gardiner 3. Jonathan Shanklin
In 1984, these three Antarctic Survey
Scientists discovered a recurring Antarctic
Ozone hole. In May, 1985, They first
reported in Paper in Nature
Dr. Susan Salomon
In 1986, He was invented
that the Chlorine is main
cause of destroying Ozone
Layer.
Creation of Ozone Layer at Stratosphere
• AtThermosphere, the huge reduction of Sunlight is received, and the some
reduction comes at stratosphere to create O from O2 .
Now these powerful O attacked many O2 atoms and create the
Ozone(O3).

IMPORTANCE OF OZONE LAYER
Ozone Layer is called the Umbrella of Earth or Security guard
of Earth. It eat the 99 percent of UV ray and give us a fresh and
normal sunlight. We are get free from the harmful effect of UV
ray.
Effects of ozone depletion
Effects on Human
– Sunburn
– Sun-damaged skin
– Cataracts
– Snow blindness
– Skin Cancer

Protecting the ozone layer
– To reduce ozone depletion, we must stop producing all ozone-depleting
chemicals.
– A big step towards doing this way the Montreal Protocol(1987). The most widely
ratified treaty in UN history. If followed, Ozone predicted to recover by 2050.
