- 2. What is a cell? • Cells are the structural and functional units of all living organisms. Some organisms, such as bacteria, are unicellular, consisting of a single cell. Other organisms, such as humans, are multicellular, or have many cells—an estimated 100,000,000,000,000 cells!
- 4. Nucleus • Functions:- A. Large oval body near the center of the wall. B. The control center for all activities. C. Surrounded by a Nuclear Membrane.
- 6. Cell Membrane • Functions:- A. The outer boundary of a cell. B. It separates the cells from other cells. C. It is porous which allows molecules to pass through.
- 8. Mitochondria • Functions:- A.Power house of the cell. B.Center of respiration of the cell. C. They release energy for cell function.
- 10. Ribosomes • Functions:- A. Tiny spherical bodies that help make proteins. B. Found in the cyto plasm or attached to the endo plasmic reticulum.
- 12. Lisosome • Functions:- A. Small structures that contain enzymes which are used in digestion. B. If a lysosome were to burst it could destroy the cell.
- 14. Golgi • Functions:- A.Tube like structures that have tiny sacs at their ends. B.They help package protein.
- 16. Endoplasmic Reticulum • Functions:- A. Systems of membranes throughout the cyto plasm. B. It connects the nuclear membrane to the cell membrane. C. Passageway for material moving though the cell.
