Challenge
What if RFID could offer more than an
unique number and small electrical
memory?
SMARTRAC TECHNOLOGY GROUP – ALL RIGHTS RESERVED Page 5
Traditional RFID sensors
Active sensors:
 Expensive
 Complicated structure
 Special requirements for
readers
 Short lifetime
 Difficult maintenance
 Challenging recycling.

Passive RFID Sensors
1. RFMicron is offering 2 sensor IC’s at the moment.
2. MagnusS2 can measure moisture content, recognize liquids, measure
pressure and proximity.
3. MagnusS3 has a temperature sensor build inside the IC and it can do same
than S2 with higher resolution.
SMARTRAC TECHNOLOGY GROUP – ALL RIGHTS RESERVED Page 7
Benefits:
 Similar structure to standard RFID
inlays
 Easily deployable
 Long lifetime without maintenance
 Easy recycling
 Great read range
 Follows industry-standard ISO
18000-6 UHF protocol
