This document provides definitions and examples of basic math terms:
- Addition is bringing two numbers together to make a new total. 3 + 3 = 6.
- Division is splitting into equal parts. 10 candy pieces shared among 5 friends is 2 pieces each.
- Multiplication is repeated addition. 3 x 2 = 3 + 3 = 6. It can also multiply fractions or decimals.
- Subtraction is taking one number away from another. If you have 5 apples and take away 2, you have 3 left.
