- 4. VONDELPARK Located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The park was originally named Nieuwe Park, but later on renamed to “Vondelpark” after the late Van den Vondel. The park expands to 47hectaresand has over a million of visitors per year. L.P.Zocherwas the park’s landscape architect and was awarded with national heritage status.

HISTORYVONDELPARK •Group of prominent Amsterdam citizens formed and raised money for architect David Zocher to design the park in a fashionable English landscape style •The park had horseback riding back in 1865 •The name Vondelparkwas adopted in 1867 when Dutch poet Joostvan den Vondel’s statue was situated into the park itself. •In 1877, the committee raised fund to enlarge the park and it reached its current space 45 hectares. •One year later in 1937, theBlauweTheehuis(English: "Blue Tea House") was opened. Thistearoomis a round modernist building, designed by the architectural office Baanders. •The Vondelparkreceived the status of riiksmonument(English: "state monument") in 1996. •Starting in September 2008, adults were planned to be legally allowed to have sex in the park. The sex must be limited to the evening hours and night.", in the words of current AmsterdamAlderman Paul Van Grieken.However, Amsterdam Policeannounced that they would not in fact tolerate this as the law required them to prevent it.
