This document discusses the rationale for personal development, health, and physical education (PDHPE). It argues that PDHPE provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to grow up living balanced, healthy lifestyles and to cope with life's challenges. Studies show increasing rates of childhood obesity worldwide and that physical inactivity causes millions of deaths annually. PDHPE benefits students by developing decision making, problem solving, communication skills, and helping them learn healthy habits that can reduce future health risks and stress while increasing attention in class.
