This document evaluates the performance of five routing protocols—AODV, DSR, DSDV, OLSR, and DYMO—in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) using the ns-2 simulator. It analyzes the effects of varying the number of nodes on key performance metrics such as packet delivery ratio, average end-to-end delay, normalized routing load, and average throughput. The study highlights the importance of routing protocol selection based on network conditions, emphasizing that no single protocol is superior in all scenarios.
