This document is a presentation on engineering physics unit IV polarization by Dr. A.K. Mishra from Jahangirabad Institute of Technology, Barabanki. It discusses the concept of polarization being associated with transverse waves, and how light can be linearly, circularly, or elliptically polarized. Polaroid films can test if light is polarized, and polarization can occur through scattering or reflection. Some substances can rotate the plane of polarization. Malus' law determines intensity of transmitted light based on orientation of polarizing films. Polarization is used to reduce glare in sunglasses and displays. Thickness of transparent tape relates to color of transmitted light.
