- 5. Getting Started Option #1 – Texas Summer Reading Program (CSLP)
- 6. Too late for Summer 2016? Perhaps not! Ordering deadline: Oct/Nov 2015 News from Texas State Library: Too late to get program manual and free items. Bookmarks, posters, prizes, etc. can still be ordered through CSLP after March 1st but call to check delivery date.
- 7. 2016 Theme – Sports & Fitness Slogans: Teens: “Get in the Game – Read” All-ages: “On Your Mark, Get Set…Read”
- 8. Decide the fundamentals Will the participants earn prizes for reading a certain number of books? Will there be weekly prizes? Will there be a drawing for a big prize? Will you host special events? Contact local businesses for funding & prize donations
- 9. Determine what elements to include: Reading logs? Bookmarks? Book bags? Prizes?
- 10. Order supplies ASAP!!! Check with CSLP Order additional supplies and incentives from: Demco Upstart Oriental Trading Rhode Island Novelty Order early enough to have supplies delivered at least a month before program!
- 11. Market the program Schools Newspaper Social media In-house

- 18. Purchase Elements ASAP! Order supplies and incentives from: Demco Upstart Oriental Trading Rhode Island Novelty Check with vendors for delivery date Have supplies delivered at least a month before the program begins
- 19. Print Elements Design and print posters, bookmarks, etc. if you create your own theme Ensure printed items are delivered in a timely manner

- 25. Order Materials Early! Get free materials Order CSLP bookmarks, posters, certificates, etc. in the fall of 2016 for use in summer 2017. Purchase additional materials Order additional CSLP promotional materials and prizes at the library’s expense in fall of 2016 and/or Order prizes from another vendor by end of January 2017
