Export Glossary to Quiz: Make your
Glossary a quiz (1.9-2.0+)

Purpose
O Turn a glossary that you have created into
a quiz for the students to complete.
O Great for the end of the Moodle lesson,
when a glossary has been created.

Benefits
O For Teachers:
O Simple way to turn your glossary into a
quiz.
O Holds students accountable for words
added to the glossary.
O Can be created as a multiple choice or
short answer quiz.
O For Students:
O They have an ongoing collection of
vocabulary words they know they are
accountable for knowing.

Part 1

Exporting & Saving
the Glossary File

O Go to:
Step 1
O BLOCKS
O Choose:
O Export Glossary to Quiz

Step 2
The Export Glossary to Quiz block will now
appear.

Step 3 (a)
Go into the Configuration

1. Choose your glossary
2. Choose order for exporting the quiz
3. Select number of words to export (blank for all)
4. Choose your question type (more on slide 3b)

Question Types:
Step 3 (b)
O 2 choices:
O Multiple Choice
O Short Answer

Step 4
O Go to the Export Quiz Block
O Click on Export entries to file

O Then click on:
-Export entries to file
O Save in a known location

Step 1
O You are now back to your main Moodle
page
O Follow the steps to create a quiz (as we
have done before)
O Add Activity…Quiz

Step 2
O Name your quiz
O All other options are same as creating a
quiz

Step 3
O Now that your quiz is created, just click on the
title you just created.
O In this case, Sample Quiz, then click EDIT at
the top

O Click on IMPORT at the top Step 4
O Choose Moodle XML format
O Category: Your quiz name / “Sample Quiz”
O Import from upload: Click BROWSE
O Find your saved file, Upload, then Continue

Step 5
O Click QUIZ at the top.

O Click SELECT ALL
O Click ADD TO QUIZ

Step 6
O This screen now appears:

O You can now re-arrange questions or
make any changes (on the left hand side)

Step 7
O You can now click PREVIEW and see how
the quiz will appear.

O You can edit your quiz if needed.
O You have now completed, Export Glossary
to Quiz!
