Flower arrangements are most satisfying when they feature one predominant type and color of flower. Heavier, darker flowers should be placed lower while lighter, smaller flowers look best higher up and on the sides to avoid a spotty effect. Fruit arrangements are best when they simply display the natural shape and color of the fruit, and may be paired with a few flowers for contrast. Candles provide soft lighting and make settings sparkle but are only used for decorative purposes in daylight and work best in groups of four or more on larger tables or two to three on smaller tables. Object variety in height creates more visual interest in centerpieces.
