The population of the Langley local health area is projected to grow by 223% from 1986 to 2036, adding 162,100 people to reach approximately 234,944 by 2036. The population aged under 20 is expected to increase by 106%, while those aged 60 and over will grow by 529%, shifting the demographic distribution significantly. By 2036, residents aged under 20 will represent about 20.9% of the population, and seniors will make up 26.3%.

During the same period, the population aged less than 20 is forecast to increase by 106% while the population aged 60+ is forecast to increase by 529%. In 1986 approximately 1 out of every 3 residents in the Langley Local Health Area was aged less than 20.
