- 3. What is E-Rate? Set up in 1997 and administered by the Schools and Libraries Division (SLD) of the Universal Service Administrative Company. Provides eligible schools and libraries with affordable telecommunications and information services.
- 4. Eligibility Requirements Must be a Public or Private Elementary or Secondary School Must be a non-profit operation Cannot receive an endowment for more than $50 million
- 5. Discounts Bay can earn a discount between 20% and 90% the costs of eligible telecommunication services. Eligibility is based on the percentage of students eligible for participation in the National School Lunch Program.
- 6. Application Process Develop a technology plan. File Form 470 for desired services. Open a competitive bidding process. File Form 471 for services ordered. File Form 486 for beginning of services. File Form 472 or 474 to arrange reimbursements or discounts.
