                            •The Vertex is the point
                            on our shape where two
          Vertex line segments join or
           One
                            meet, or where two lines
                            intersect (cross). Also
                            known as a corner point.

                            •Most objects or shapes
                            have more than one
                            vertex, which then are
Vertex called Vertices.

                            •On a 2-D shape such as
                            the Triangle, we can see
                            that it has 3 Vertices.

                                    Edge
• An Edge joins one vertex One
to another and one face to
another, usually in a line
segment.
•Edges have two important
characteristics:
 An edge joins just two
vertices
 An edge joins just two
faces
On the 2-D shape of a
Rectangle we can see that Edge
                             Edge Three
there are 4 edges, or
                             Four
otherwise called sides.

•In math we refer to Faces, on
shapes. These are not to be
confused with happy faces, or
mean faces.
•A Face is any of the
bounding surfaces of a solid
figure.
•The face is bounded by a
circuit of edges, an usually
includes the flat region inside
the boundary.
•If we take a look at any 2-D
shape we can see that there is
only one face. When we start This circle
looking at 3-Dimentional has only
shapes we can see many more one face
faces.
Content 1.4

•When talking about faces in our
math class, we will most likely not
be referring to 2-D shapes. They in
fact all have one face and there is
no need to count them.
•However now that we are moving
into 3-D objects and shapes we will
in fact be talking about how many
faces each object has.
•Lets take a look at this Cube, and
count the faces it has. YES! Exactly
the cube has 6 faces.
