Moocs are online courses that allow open participation and access via the internet. They promote interactive learning through peer-to-peer engagement and participation in online discussions. There are two main types - Connectivist MOOCs (cMOOCs) that emphasize open dialogue and connections, and eXtension MOOCs (xMOOCs) that have a more formal teaching structure with assessments. The first MOOC launched in 2008, and they have grown significantly in popularity, allowing free access to education for people around the world.
