This document proposes research to test the effectiveness of adapting Les Stroud's "Three Zones of Assessment" survival technique for coping with anxiety. The technique involves assessing: 1) what is happening within oneself, 2) one's immediate environment, and 3) how to envision overcoming the anxiety-provoking situation. Participants would receive the technique or not before a role-play anxiety-inducing waiting room task. Anxiety levels would be measured and compared between groups, with a 3-month follow up to assess ongoing use and effectiveness of the technique. The goal is to provide an easy-to-use coping tool to help treat anxiety.
