This document provides information about two biological processes - diffusion and osmosis.
[1] Diffusion is defined as the spreading out of particles in a fluid from one region to another due to particles having spaces between them and being able to move about. If a barrier separating two types of fluid is removed, the particles will spread out and move in the spaces between other particles until they are evenly distributed.
[2] Osmosis is demonstrated through a diagram showing a concentrated and dilute solution separated by a partially permeable membrane. The summary asks the reader to draw a similar diagram showing the liquid levels after an hour or two.
