Preliminary Task
- 1. My name is Stathis Tetradis and I am studying AS Media Studies. Our coursework is to make a film, which contains an opening of two-minutes, due to January. INTRODUCTION
- 2. Our main aim is to make a continuity task involving filming and editing, which has to include a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite to another character, with whom he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should also demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and 180 degree rule In addition, I was working with Philip Tafireyi and Aliu Touray. PRELIMINARY TASK
- 3. Match On Action: It’s a cut which splices two different views of the same action together at the same moment in the movement, making it seem to continue uninterrupted. Shot/Reverse Shot: It’s two or more shots edited together that alternate characters, typically in a conversation situation. In continuing editing, characters in one framing usually look left, in the other framing, right. The 180 Degree Rule: It’s a rule, which indicates that the camera should stay in one of the areas on either side of the axis of action. The 180 degree line is not usually crossed unless the transition is smoothed by a POV shot or a re-establishing shot. TYPES OF SHOTS
- 4. My film demonstrates continuity editing by using match on action, shot/reverse shot and 180 degree rule. CONTINUING EDITING
- 5. NEW TECHNOLOGY In order to produce the film opening we used a digital camera and to edit it Adobe Premiere. I was shooting and Philip and Aliu were acting. I learnt how to use the camera and the angles. Also where you are supposed to be when you are filming different shots, such as match on action etc. Adobe Premiere on the other hand is much easier, as the only thing you have to do is upload all the videos and on the timeline try to tie them together in a way that the editing would not been noticed by the viewers.
- 6. Strengths: Used correctly a variety of different types of shots such as Match on Action, Shot/Reverse Shot and 180 degree Rule. Weaknesses: There is one scene that the editing of the film is obvious. Could be improved by adding music during the credits. STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
